BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Minister for Women and Child Development, Kusum Mehdele, has said that non-government organisations should widen the scope of their activities and their de-addiction campaign should also address the problem of smack and brown sugar. Ms. Mehdele was addressing a review meeting at Mantralaya here after being given the additional portfolio of the State Social Justice Department.
Medical treatment
Drug addicts should be given proper medical attention and treatment to make them responsible citizens, she said, adding that all 192 voluntary organisations receiving Government aid should also focus their attention towards the problem of smack and brown sugar, which is ruining the lives of the street children.
Camps
If they fail to work in this direction, they would even fail to receive working grants from the Government, she pointed out. Drawing attention towards those who were becoming drug addicts, especially here in the State capital and adjoining areas like Itarsi, Hoshangabad and Narsinghpur, Ms. Mehdele said that de-addiction camps should be organised with the help of police to combat the menace.
