MANGALORE: The recent judgment of the Supreme Court to do away with reservation for the "creamy layer" among Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes is detrimental to the overall interest of the community, the SC/ST Naukarara Meesalathi Samsrakshana Okkoota has said. M. Devdas, president of the okkoota, told presspersons that as a result, posts that were reserved for these communities would go to the general category. Some of the posts demanding technical competence were set aside for members of the communities who were in the "creamy layer", he said. To create awareness about implications of the ruling, the okkoota is organising a seminar at Ravindra Kala Bhavan, University College, Hampankatte on Sunday.
