BERHAMPUR: Housewives were made aware of the simple acts that could save fuel at a workshop organised by the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) in the city on Thursday. The PCRA organised this workshop at Sankarpur street with the help of three women Self-Help Groups (SHG) of the city. D. Swarupa Rani, external faculty of the PCRA elaborated the housewives about the loss of LPG during faulty cooking process through audio-visual programs. Over 50 housewives took part in this workshop. Namita Mohanty, a participant at this workshop, said after attending this workshop she would be able to reduce the LPG consumption at home as earlier she was using high flame even after the curries started boiling and was always using large burner during cooking, which she realised were faulty way to use LPG for cooking. Ms Rani said she advised the housewives to mostly use the small burner, soak rice and dal before cooking, slow down the flame of the gas burner after the curry starts boiling. "Housewives realized the need of LPG conservation as they have started to feel the pinch of shortage and increase in price of LPG," she said.
