Plea for interim compensation

BHUBANESWAR: Widow of a tribal person who was allegedly killed in police encounter in Rayagada district and later `branded' a naxalite, has approached the Orissa Human Right Commission (OHRC) seeking interim compensation for her husband's death.

The victim, Mali Paleka, alleged that the preliminary report of the Director of Investigation of the OHRC clearly pointed out that her husband was killed in an `extra-judiciary' manner by the police.
