Coimbatore: The Kattur police recovered a gelatine and a detonator from a motorbike at Gandhipuram on Thursday. According to a release, this follows an oral complaint lodged around 3 p.m. by Ashok of Gandhipuram First Street that he had found a suspicious object on his motorbike parked in front of a printing press. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central), Kumarasamy and the personnel of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad rushed to the spot and recovered the object wrapped in a polyethylene paper. It was found to be a 9" gelatine with a detonator. But it was not in a condition to explode. The police suspect that it could have been placed on the motorbike due to professional or personal reasons to intimidate Ashok. A case has been registered under the Explosive Substances Act. Three special teams headed by the Assistant Commissioners of Police have been formed and Shanmugavel, Deputy Commissioner, Law and Order, has begun the investigation.
