Third judge's order today

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Justice P.K. Misra, who is the third Judge hearing the cases relating to the October 13 polls to the Chennai Corporation Council, is to deliver his judgment on Friday, two days ahead of fresh polls to be held for 67 wards.

According to High Court cause list, he will deliver it at 3-30 p.m.

The matter was referred to Justice Misra, after a Division Bench comprising Justice S.J. Mukhopadhaya and Justice F.M. Ibrahim Kalifulla delivered a split verdict on January 12.

While Justice Mukhopadhaya had said that the Court could not exercise its jurisdiction on an election related matter, Justice Kalifulla had identified 99 wards and ordered fresh polls.

Following the verdict, 98 of the 99 ward councillors resigned their posts.
