8 industries told to close down

  • PCB takes decision after meeting with 24 industries
  • 13 industries asked to improve pollution control systems

    HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board on Thursday issued closure orders to eight industries in Ranga Reddy district.

    A decision to this effect was taken after the board conducted a meeting with managements of 24 industries in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Medak districts.

    The industries include Peacock Tanneries Private Limited at Hayathnagar, Slaughter House at Jalpally, Kiran Potteries, Indo Iron Foundry Private Limited, both in IDA Uppal, Syntho Chirals Private Limited and Mars Chemical Industries in Mallapur, Liquors India Limited and Kalpana Chemicals in Nacharam.

    Pollution control

    The board has also issued directions to 13 industries to improve pollution control systems. They are Kothagudem Thermal Power Station in Khammam, Nannapaneni Venkatrao Cooperative Sugars Limited in Guntur, Sudha Agro Oil and Chemical Industries Limited in East Godavari district, Sudha Raw and Boiled Rice Mill in Nellore, Chandana Brothers Multiplex Complex, K. S. R. Green Valley and Satyam Computer Services Private Limited in Visakhapatnam, Siris Limited in Ranga Reddy district, Ravindra Solventa Oils in Krishna district, Alkabeer Exports Limited in Medak, Vigneshwara Stone Crusher, Hanuman Minerals and Ashirwad Steels and Industries limited in Nalgonda district.

    Special team

    It appointed a special team to monitor industries' ETI operations and effluent disposal continuously in Radhika Silk Mills Private Limited at Shamshabad in Ranga Reddy district.

    The board refused to consider request of Jagannath Steel Re-rolling Mills and Adalja Industries in Ranga Reddy district for revocation of closure orders.
