Staff Reporter
TAMBARAM
: A 66-year-old woman was reportedly attacked by her servant and jewels and cash taken away at Ayyappa Nagar in Madipakkam on Wednesday.
Police said Lalitha, widow of Vedagiri, a railway employee, was living with her son, a civil engineer, and his wife working in a private company. David, 30, of Kumbakonam, working in the house for the past six months as a servant, attacked Lalitha and tied her hands and legs to a sofa. He snatched her five-sovereign chain and took away Rs. 3,000 in cash, some jewels and silver articles.
When her son returned home, he saw her lying unconscious. He took her to the Railway Hospital in Perambur, where she is undergoing treatment.
