Two injured in waylaying incidents

KANCHEEPURAM : Two persons were injured in two waylaying incidents in the district on Wednesday.

According to police, Purushothaman (18) of BS Nagar, Otteri Extension, was attacked with a knife by a four-member gang, which came in a car, and relieved of one-sovereign gold chain, near an engineering college on the Grand Southern Trunk Road, Potheri,

Purushothaman has been admitted to the Chengalpattu Medical College Hospital. The Guduvancheri police have registered a case and are investigating.

In the second incident, a three-member gang waylaid an engineering college student at Sothupakkam near Melmaruvathur at around 7-15 p.m. T. V. Jayakumar (20) of Ambalpuram in Cuddalore district was intercepted by the gang, which came in an autorickshaw, and relieved of a gold ring and Rs.300 in cash. He sustained knife injuries and was admitted in the Government Hospital, Madurantakam, police said.
