Pandemonium over delay in GoAir flight departure

The flight scheduled to take off at 11.20 a.m. was rescheduled at 3.15 p.m. and later at 4.40 p.m., leading to strong protests from passengers

HYDERABAD: A virtual pandemonium prevailed at the airport, after the passengers bound for Delhi by GoAir flight, entered into repeated arguments with the air carrier officials seeking an explanation as to why the delay was not notified to them in advance.

The junior level officials manning the GoAir counters at the airport failed to offer any convincing replies for the delay and refused to divulge the contact numbers of senior officials, passengers alleged.

The flight was scheduled to take off at 11.20 a.m.

For some inexplicable reason, the flight was rescheduled at 3.15 p.m. and later at 4.40 p.m. leading to strong protests from the passengers.

"The airline failed to intimate us about the delay.

We reached the airport an hour in advance and they would not even tell us the reason for the delay or the telephone numbers of seniors.

They did not even make any attempt to provide even water to us," Vishnuvardhan Reddy, a passenger, complained to The Hindu .

The refusal of the airliner to accommodate the passengers on flights to Delhi further aggravated the situation.

Passengers angry

"I had a very important meeting in Delhi at 3 p.m.

The GoAir staff flatly refused to send us by other airlines. They did not even call us to inform us about the delay," fumed M.V.T. Kumar of a pharma company.

When contacted, GoAir officials merely maintained that the flight G8 144 to Delhi was rescheduled to leave Hyderabad by 4.40 p.m.
