Neonatology workshop begins tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: The annual convention of the Neonatology Forum (NNF) this year is being held in the city on February 17 and 18. The convention, being hosted by KIMS Hospital, will be held at three other venues also — the SAT hospital, the SUT Hospital and Hotel Mascot.

The NNF is the national advisory body on the care of newborns. More than 450 paediatricians from across the country, including renowned neonatologists, Anil Narang of PGIMER, Chandigarh and Ashok Deorari of AIIMS, New Delhi, will discuss strategies on improving the survival and the quality of survival of newborns.

Five parallel workshops will be held at the convention, which will train paediatricians from the private as well as public sector hospitals on basic newborn care. About 100 nurses are also being trained at the workshop for specialised nursing care of newborns.
