HUBLI: A report that two college students had attempted suicide upset over the resignation by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and actor Ambareesh created a flutter in Gadag on Friday. However, the police officials, who admitted them to the District Hospital in Gadag on Thursday night, ruled out the report telecast by a private news channel, saying that the college students were in love and had admitted it before them. The police gave the names of the students as Shankarappa Lakkundi and Sangeeta Nagari. Shankrappa is a second year B.A student at KSS College in Gadag and Sangeeta is a first year B.A. student. Both are from Chikkoppa village in Gadag taluk. Sangeeta and Shankrappa were found convulsing by some people at Manavihal in Gadag taluk on Thursday evening. According to them, they had consumed poison. Immediately they alerted the police who admitted them to the District Hospital in Gadag. The police said the students told them that they were in love and did not mention about being upset over the resignation of Mr. Ambareesh. The students were recuperating in the hospital, they added.
