Chidambaram must resign, says Swamy

CHENNAI: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy demanded the resignation of Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram over the growing inflation rate.

In a statement here, he said although the wholesale price index revealed only a 6.58 per cent rise annually, retail prices were "galloping at an average rate of 17 per cent."

He said the price of wheat flour had risen 27 per cent, channa dal 41 per cent, urad dal 45 per cent, onion 100 per cent, sugar 22 per cent, and washing powder 50 per cent.
