KOCHI: City Police Commissioner P. Vijayan and Rajesh Relan of Met Life India Insurance Company Limited will jointly flag off the Kochi walkathon on Sunday at 6.30 a.m. It is being organised by the Kerala Management Association and the insurance company. A host of celebrities will participate in the event along with the public. Political leaders including Sebastian Paul, K.V. Thomas, K. Babu, Dinesh Mani, V.K. Ibrahim Kunju and P.M. Yusuf; Olympian T.C. Yohannan and actor Indrajit are expected to take part. The event would also be a curtain raiser to the National Management Day. Anyone can participate in the walkathon. To register, the participant must contact the Kerala Management Association on 2317917 or Metlife India Insurance on 6574460. There is no registration fee. A prize of Rs.50,000 would be given away as the first prize in the overall category. The second and third prizes would be Rs.20,000 and Rs.10,000 respectively. There will be separate prizes for women, children below 12 years, men above 50 years and women above 40 years. The walkathon will be flagged off at the Durbar Hall Ground. The walkathon will take the Durbar Hall Ground - Jose Junction - MG Road - Banerjee Road - Marine Drive - BTH - Durbar Hall Ground route.
