Belgaum: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Bagewadi Abhay Kumar Patil and 200 of his supporters were arrested by the Market Police when they protested in front of the office of PWD Executive Engineer Vinayak Sugur here on Saturday. They were release in the evening. Mr. Patil accused Mr. Sugur of delaying roadwork from Chandanhosur to Tarihal falling under the Bagewadi Assembly constituency. He felt that the Executive Engineer was deliberately delaying the work to favour certain contractors. The bids were scheduled to be opened on February 6. It was postponed to February 12 and then February 17 . Mr. Sugur maintained that there was no ulterior motive behind the move.
