Ganguly loses, Sasikiran wins

NEW DELHI: Surya Shekhar Ganguly surrendered meekly to sole leader Evgeny Tomashevseky on a day of mixed fortunes for the Indians in the Aeroflot Open chess tournament in Moscow on Friday.

Ganguly's 30-move loss following a crushing king side offensive from the Russian came before joint top seed K. Sasikiran scored his first victory. D. Harika, the lowest ranked player in the 88-player field, maintained her unbeaten run by holding 28th-seeded Chinese GM Wang Hao in 39 moves.
