HYDERABAD: A run for Telangana was organised from Indira Park to Baghlingampalli here on Saturday on the occasion of the 54th birthday of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Mr. Rao cut a 54 kg cake as 54 youth donated blood as part of the celebrations at TRS office. Musheerabad MLA N. Narasimha Reddy flagged off the run in the afternoon.

The run culminated in a public meeting that was addressed by senior TRS leader A. Narendra and others.

A flock of pigeons and a huge bunch of balloons were released into air.

Mr. Narendra hoped that the movement for separate Telangana continued peacefully.

Wishes from Sonia

But, it could turn violent if the Government resorted to provocative acts. He recalled that the freedom movement also had non-violent and violent components.

Artistes of `Telangana dhoom dham' performed at the programme. UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and APCC president K. Keshava Rao were among those who greeted him on his birthday, the TRS president told reporters.

Mr. Rao's disclosure assumed significance in the backdrop of rumours about a possible alliance between Congress and TRS in the upcoming elections to Legislative Council.
