Natwar opposes President's rule

Special Correspondent

BHARATPUR: Opposing any move to impose President's rule in Uttar Pradesh, the former Union Minister K. Natwar Singh on Saturday said Chief Minister Mulayam Singh was following the Constitution and democratic norms by declaring that he would prove his strength on the floor of the House on February 26. Thisdeclaration was perfectly democratic, he said.

Addressing a meeting of supporters here, he expressed concern over the "undignified haste on the part of some quarters to impose President's rule prematurely."

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Nationalist Congress Party had already opposed any such move. "The least they can do is wait till February 26," he said.
