Devotees throng Shirdi Sai Mandir

Special Correspondent

GULBARGA: Thousands of devotees on Saturday paid obeisance to the idol of the Shirdi Sai Baba at the Shirdi Sai Mandir on the outskirts of the city to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the consecration of the life-size idol of the saint in the mandir.

Special pujas were performed by priests specially summoned from the Sai Mandir at Shirdi in Maharashtra. Thousands of devotees, both men and women, thronged the mandir from the morning for darshan.

The day began with the "kakad aarti" at 5.30 a.m. followed by maha abhishek of the idol and "homa havan". The temple trustees had arranged free food for devotees throughout the day. The "dhoop aarti" was followed by cultural programmes in which Sai Bhajans were rendered by artistes from different parts of Gulbarga and Maharashtra.
