"Tribunal award discriminatory"
Speaking at a fast organised by MDMK activists in protest against injustice meted out to Tamils, Mr. Vaiko feared threat to the lives and properties of Tamils in Karnataka. Civil-military liaison conference
A defence press release said armed forces and civil administrators participating in the meet, a first in four years, would also discuss law and order, aid to civil authorities and problems facing ex-servicemen. Chief Secretary L.K. Tripathy, General Officer Commanding, Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala Area, Major General B. Sivasankar, and Director General of Police would attend the meeting, along with senior officers of Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and civil administration. 16 refugees rescued
Sources said they were found stranded at the Islet without food or water for the last two days as the boatmen landed them at the unmanned Islet.
Raid in camp
Several contingents of police personnel led by t Superintendent of Police R. Thirugnanam, searched the houses, where the refugees were given shelter, and some of the locked houses in the camp. The raid was conducted based on an instruction from the Director General of Police, D. Mukherjee.

night. According to the police, a bus proceeding
to Mysore from Salem hit a car at the Chitode Four Road junction. After hitting the car the bus also hit another van and stopped after ramming
into a roadside tree. Nithyanandham (35)
of Mysore and Subramaniam (55) of Sankari Illampillai village were killed.
The injured were admitted to Erode Government Headquarters Hospital.
