CUTTACK: The State Government officials entangled in vigilance net and facing corruption charges for possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income are in for more trouble.
16 cases
Different district judge and special judge courts dealing with vigilance cases have ordered attaching properties of at least 13 accused persons in the year 2006. According to a Vigilance Department press release, 16 more cases of property attachment applications are still pending in different courts for orders. Among the officers whose properties have been attached include three OAS officers, three motor vehicle inspectors, two supply inspectors, a horticulturist, a forester, a marketing inspector, a junior engineer and a junior clerk. The total properties of these corrupt officials particularly their landed properties and buildings worth Rs 79,25,53,705 have been attached, the release added.
