Golwalkar centenary celebrations

NEW DELHI: Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat will be the chief guest at the M. S. Golwalkar centenary ceremony being organised at Burari here this Sunday.

According to Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan, the ceremony will be presided over by the founder of Bharat Mata Mandir in Hardwar, Swami Satyamitrananda Giriji Maharaj. He said as the second Sarsanghachalak of RSS from 1942 to 1973, Golwalkar not only propagated the thoughts of the organisation but also guided many organisations like Bharatiya Majdoor Sangh, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bharatiya Jan Sangh and Vidya Bharti.

Brahma Kumaris' Shivaratri Mahotsav

NEW DELHI: On the eve of Mahashivaratri, Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya organised a grand Shivaratri Mahotsav in the heart of the Capital. Lectures, exhibitions, dance and drama formed part of the celebrations.

The Mahotsav was inaugurated jointly by Delhi High Court judge V.P. Gupta and Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken.

Nadeem Javed is NSUI president

NEW DELHI: The National Students' Union of India executive committee has been re-constituted with Nadeem Javed appointed as president. There will be three vice-presidents and five general secretaries in the committee. Delhi University Students' Union president Amrita Dhawan will be one of the four spokespersons of the 25-member committee.

Jat Mahasabha convention on March 9

NEW DELHI : The All-India Jat Mahasabha will hold a convention at Talkatora Stadium here on March 9 under the chairmanship of its president, Chaudhary Dara Singh.

One of the main issues to be taken up at the convention, which is likely to be attended by several Central and State Ministers and MPs, would be reservation for the Jats in State and Central Government jobs. The convention will also discuss social evils like female foeticide, dowry and drug abuse. The year 2007 is being celebrated as the Jat Mahasabha Centenary Year.

Showcasing Kashmir's composite culture

NEW DELHI: The Jammu and Kashmir Initiative for Peace is organising a cultural programme at India International Centre here on Sunday. The festival will bring people from all parts of the State together representing the Valley's composite culture.

"We are dedicated to a solution to the Kashmir issue through a cultural interaction among Kashmiris, Ladakhis and Dogris. Through song and dance, the festival will highlight Kashmir's homogeneity, " said Initiative general secretary Omkar Razdan.
