NALGONDA: The Bhongir municipal council meeting on Saturday witnessed a heated argument between the chairperson Donakonda Vanitha and councillor Devarakonda Satyanarayana, both representing Congress. Chaos prevailed at the specially convened meet as soon as Mr. Satyanarayana began criticising the chairperson. He said that she could not ensure allocation of sufficient funds to construct a new building for the municipal office. Taking strong exception to certain "objectionable and derogatory words" he had used in his speech, Ms. Vanitha got up from her chair and shouted at the member. Amid pandemonium, a tearful Ms. Vanitha walked out of the meeting hall, bringing the meeting to an end. Speaking to reporters later Ms. Vanitha, a staunch supporter of senior Congress MLA U. Purushottam Reddy said that the member didn't give her the scope to adjourn the special meeting, called for to discuss the issue of the municipal building. "What can I do if he uses vulgar language and shows scant regard to the chair," she questioned.
