TAMBARAM: Litigation severely affects the speedy implementation of several development projects, Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T.R. Baalu said on Friday. Addressing a function at Tiruvanchery near Tambaram to distribute free colour television sets, Mr. Baalu said many people approached the court over surrendering their land and property to the Government for executing projects in the public interest. On the controversy over Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam leader Vijayakanth's property being required for the grade separator project at Koyambedu, Mr. Baalu said the land had been identified for the project long before the actor launched his party. He denied any political motive. Mr. Baalu pointed out that if people cooperated with the Government, works meant to improve the quality of life could be implemented faster.
TV sets distribution
The distribution of colour television sets would first be completed in village panchayats, before being extended to urban local bodies. Three hundred and eightyfour sets were distributed on the occasion. Kancheepuram Collecor Pradeep Yadav, Tambaram MLA S.R.Raja and St. Thomas Mount panchayat union chairman K.Elumalai were present. .
