Education fair

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: An exhibition on education in the United Kingdom will be held on Sunday and Monday at Hotel Taj Coromandel. More than 100 representatives from about 60 British higher education institutions are participating in the fair.

More than 23,000 Indian students are studying in the U.K. and this number is growing at the rate of more than 18 per cent each year.

Indian students normally prefer the one-year Master's and three-year undergraduate course (except Scotland) in the U.K. The shorter duration of courses as compared to other countries means saving time and money. Students can also take advantage of schemes (such as the Fresh Talent and the Postgraduate scheme) that allow them to work after they have finished their studies in the U.K. International students get discounts for travel, entertainment and health care which is free or subsidised.

At the exhibition, students will get a chance to speak to U.K. representatives of the participating institutions and also attend seminars on various topics that will help them understand the admission procedure for undergraduate and postgraduate-level study in the U.K.

Those applying for postgraduate courses will be able to get information about application procedures and deadlines from the representatives and at the seminars at the venue.
