Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in the following areas on Monday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work: Vijayalakshmipuram, Prakash Nagar, Vinayagapuram, Pudur and Gangai Nagar in Menambedu area. Supply will be resumed before 5 p.m. if work is completed earlier.

An appeal

The Commissioner of Labour has appealed to employers in factories, shops, commercial establishments, industrial establishments and motor transport undertakings to grant employees a holiday (with wages) to enable them to vote on Sunday, notified as day of poll for the election to the Chennai Corporation.

Numbers to move to new exchange

All phone numbers starting with "2847" and working in Ice House Road RSU Exchange, which is parented to Anna Road MSU, will be re-parented to Dinroze OCB Exchange with effect from February 17. There will not be any number change.

BSNL has requested customers to reactivate their phone plus services. Customers with STD/ISD facilities have been requested to re-register/lock their secret code. For assistance, call 2860 1000 or 2860 0123.

Career counselling

Nethrodaya, an NGO working with the visually impaired, is organising career counselling and guidance programme on Sunday at Velammal School, Mogappair for visually impaired students for X and XII Standards. Around 200 participants from Tamil Nadu are expected to take part.

Special poojas have been scheduled at the Lakshmi Satyanarayana Perumal Temple, Nanganallur, on Sunday and Monday. Sunday's poojas will begin with a Garudotsavam

at 7 a.m.

Thirumanjanam has been scheduled at 10 a.m. and Hanumantha Vahanam, at 7 p.m. The event will conclude with Chandra Prabhai at 7 p.m. on Monday.
