TDP, allies too tread the same path

Relay hunger strike by CPI against water meters enters third day

VIJAYAWADA : Activists of the TDP, CPI(M), CPI(ML) New Democracy and members of the Tax Payers' Association staged a one-day hunger strike to protest against the decision of fixing water meters to domestic taps, in front of the Sub-Collector's office here on Saturday. The relay hunger strike launched by CPI in front of the Tummalapalli Kalakshetram entered the third day.

TDP urban president Gadde Ram Mohan, party floor leader in the municipal corporation general body Yerubothu Venkata Ramana, CPI(M) floor leader Ch.Babu Rao, Tax Payers' Association president Anjeneyulu, corporators of TDP and CPI(M) participated in the protest.

Andhra Pradesh Medical Council chairman V. Ramprasad speaking at the relay fast camp expressed his solidarity to the agitation against water meters. He said any increase in tariff should be scientific and rational. The State Government should not try to increase burden in an arbitrary manner
