New Delhi:
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice has invited suggestions and views from legal experts and the general public on the Judges (Inquiry) Bill, 2006, which provides for setting up a national judicial council to probe into allegations against judges.
After its introduction, the Bill was referred to the panel, headed by Congress MP E. Sudarsana Natchiappan.
Mr. Natchiappan told The Hindu that they had obtained the views of some former Chief Justices of India and the majority opinion was that the equilibrium among the various organs of the State should be maintained and nothing should be done to affect the relationship between the judiciary and the executive or between the judiciary and the legislature.
