This Day That Age
An impressive garden between the Napier Bridge and the Wallajah Bridge near the Marina is proposed to be laid by the Corporation of Madras. Arrangements are being made to secure the necessary plans and views for an artistic landscape lay-out of the open site opposite the Victory Memorial (War Memorial) extended from the Napier Bridge to the Wallajah Bridge. Mr. Ian G. Walker, a landscape architect, has been asked to prepare the plan. The garden is to be laid on an extensive land measuring about 5 acres. The architect has also been requested to prepare the plan with sketches in colour for a boat jetty, rest sheds and bathrooms. A cafeteria is also to be provided in this place. The object of the scheme is to beautify the Marina, according to the Corporation Commissioner.
