Coimbatore: K. Subbarayan, MP, has warned of a series of agitations, if areas within Tamil Nadu are retained with the Palakkad Railway Division. In a statement here Mr. Subbarayan said that creation of a separate railway division at Salem bifurcating the existing Palakkad division was announced in the last Railway Budget. It was unfortunate that the Kerala Chief Minister, V.S. Achuthanandan, was viewing it with narrow considerations. The statement of the Union Railway Minister, Laloo Prasad Yadav, suggesting for talks on this issue was to be viewed only against the interests of the people in Tamil Nadu. If the Railway Ministry decided to retain areas coming under Tamil Nadu with the Palakkad Division, there would be a series of agitations, he warned.
