Chennai: Lakshmipathy Balaji, seeking to recover from a back injury, left for London on Saturday. He will undergo a surgery the expenses will be borne by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on February 20. The paceman has been under a fitness cloud for the last two seasons. Balaji is believed to be suffering from an injury similar to the one New Zealand pace ace Shane Bond had overcome. Balaji returned briefly to the domestic circuit early this season before breaking down again. Earlier, he had undergone treatment in Australia. With his away movement and bounce, Balaji played a key role in India's historic Test and ODI triumph in Pakistan, 2004. Special Correspondent
