PATHANAMTHITTA: The 61st Hindu religious meet, organised by the Ranni Haindava Seva Samiti, on the sand-bed of the Pampa river at Ranni began with the Upanishad message of `Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu' on Sunday. Inaugurating the religious meet, Uthradom Tirunal Marthanda Varma, head of the royal family of erstwhile Travancore, said only those having will-power and faith in God could attain success in life. "The ancient Indian culture taught us `May all the people of the world be happy!' Whoever keeps this principle in mind will always be happy. The most influential aspect of Indian culture is to see divinity everywhere," he said. K.P. Radhakrishna Menon, judge, delivered the presidential address. He said the consumerist culture in the modern world had led to erosion of social, moral and ethical values in society. Swami Sadyodjatha of the Art of Living Foundation delivered the benedictory speech. Vocalist Jayan was honoured on the occasion.
