`CPI(M) backing fundamentalists'

Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE: Congress leader Aryadan Mohammed on Sunday said that if the CPI(M) continued backing communal and fundamentalist organisations, Malabar would soon turn into another Kashmir.

Inaugurating the district conference of the Kerala Aided Primary Teachers (KAPT) Union here, Mr. Mohammed alleged that CPI(M) had helped fundamentalist organisations to reach out to the masses. This was the right time for going all out against the fundamentalist and communal forces in the country. But the Left Front, especially the CPI(M), was trying to befriend them, he alleged.

The CPI(M) was trying to turn the courts in their favour by threatening them. Also, they were attempting to gag the press, Mr. Aryadan alleged.

The Congress leader alleged that for some of the Ministers, V.S. Achuthanandan was the Chief Minister, while for some others it was Pinarayi Vijayan. The lapses in the policies of the Government had led to the hike in prices of essential commodities. Kerala had become State with no fiscal discipline.
