Puducherry: The Puducherry Private Milk Producers and Vendors Welfare Association has called upon the Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, to ensure that those selling milk on mobile units, (cycles or other vehicles) delivering milk at door-steps, should be provided a subsidy of Rs.2 a litre of milk they procured from dairy farmers. The president of the association, R. Krishnan, said in a release here on Sunday that a meeting of the association held earlier here noted with concern the lack of subsidies to milk vendors who procured milk at Rs.12 a litre and sell it at the same price to the end-users. The Rs.12 had been fixed as procurement price by the Government after raising the procurement price to Rs.11.17 a litre. But mobile milk vendors were in a predicament. Or they could be offered jobs in the Pondicherry Cooperative Milk Producers Union.
