HYDERABAD: Spurning the offer of an understanding for the Legislative Council elections by the Congress and Telugu Desam, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has condemned the unilateral announcements about the alliance by the two parties. On a day of fast-paced political developments, TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao said there was no question of an alliance with the Congress under any circumstances. This followed the statement of AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh and APCC chief K. Keshava Rao in New Delhi that they had decided to support the TRS in Karimnagar and Medak local bodies' constituencies after speaking to the TRS president on phone.
KCR's condition
On the other hand, the TDP sought to dilute its earlier offer to consider `with an open mind' if the TRS wanted to have an understanding. But Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao wanted the TDP to spell out its stand on Telangana before talking about a poll alliance. Meanwhile, the Congress has finalised the names of 17 candidates from the local bodies constituencies after Dr. Keshava Rao along with Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy held detailed discussions with Mr. Singh and later with AICC chief Sonia Gandhi. The AICC has cleared the candidature of the following: T. Babji (Srikakulam), Gidugu Rudraraju (East Godavari), Ganga Bhavani (West Godavari), Ilapuram Venkaiah (Krishna), Rayapati Srinivas and T. G. V. Krishna Reddy (Guntur), G. V. Seshu (Prakasam), C. V. Sesha Reddy (Nellore), Jayachandra Naidu (Chittoor), Sivarami Reddy (Anantapur), T. Srinivasulu (Kurnool), Jagadishwar Reddy (Mahabubnagar), Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka (Khammam), Palvai Goverdhan Reddy (Nalgonda), G. Venkat Ramana Reddy (Warangal), R. Venkatram Reddy (Nizamabad) and Premsagar Rao (Adilabad).
