KOLLAM: Senior Congress leaders attended a meeting called by the Kollam District Congress Committee (DCC) to analyse the situation in the wake of the price rise of essential commodities. The meeting passed a resolution stating that though the Congress-led United Progress Alliance Government at the Centre slashed the prices of petrol and diesel on two occasion in the recent past, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government in the State was not taking any steps in bringing down the prices of essential commodities. Terming the LDF Government as a big failure, the resolution said that if the Government continued remaining apathetic to the price rise, the Congress and the United Democratic Front would be constrained to launch major agitations all over the State. The meeting was presided over by DCC president Kadavoor Sivadasan. Senior leaders like C.V. Padmarajan, Thennala Balakrishna Pillai, MP, M.I. Shahnavas, K.C. Rajan. Kodikunnil Suresh, Sooranad Rajashekaran, A. Azhakeshan and Bharatheepuram Sasi attended the meeting.
