NEW DELHI:
Congress leaders are divided on the feasibility of getting Parliament's approval in case Article 356 is invoked in Uttar Pradesh.
The Congress Working Committee meeting on Monday is likely to debate the political implications of seeking the Bharatiya Janata Party's help in dislodging a "secular" government, and that too against the expressed preference of a critical supporting party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
The CWC would discuss the overall political developments, including the local elections in Maharashtra, Assembly elections in Punjab, and the on-going poll process in Uttarakhand and Manipur.
According to sources, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee is likely to brief the CWC on developments on the external front, including his recent visit to Iran.
