Michael sparkles
Two lovely goals from Michael Gallant, a former junior Wimbledon tennis star, was the highlight of the visiting Members Hockey Club's 3-1 victory over Kerala Veterans in the Friendship hockey series match at the Don Bosco Ground, Vaduthala, Kochi, on Sunday. The London side now leads the four-match series 2-0. Bruce Christie gave Members the lead in the 19th minute, while Michael struck in the 34th and the 53rd minutes. Kerala's lone goal came towards the end of the game, with captain V.K. Sanal Kumar, a Circle Inspector with the Crime Branch here, sounding the board. Former State Labour Minister, Babu Divakaran, who had led the home side on Saturday, did not play on Sunday, but is expected to figure in the next match in Thiruvananthapuram.
