KOZHIKODE: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan presented the S.K. Pottekkat Award to T.K. Hamza, MP, for his debut book Mappilapatinte Maduryam here on Sunday. The award, instituted by the Kozhikode-based S.K. Pottekkat Samithi in memory of the Jnanapith award winner, carries a citation, plaque and cash prize. Writers, litterateurs, politicians and connoisseurs of Mappilappattu lauded the literary acumen of Mr. Hamza. The book deserved notice for its academic content. Akbar Kakkatil introduced the book. P.M.A. Salam, MLA, presented the citation. U.A. Khader and M.N. Karassery, writers, P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, BJP leader, and A.K. Saseendran, MLA, were present.
