NEW BLOOD: Inspector General of Police and Additional Commandant General of Home Guards and Civil Defence Khalil Ur Rehman receiving the guard of honour at the Home Guards training camp at Rekulagi in Bidar on Sunday.
Bidar: "Home Guards should always be ready to face all emergencies. Home Guards and Civil Defence are the forces people look to during times of crisis," Inspector General of Police and Additional Commandant General of Home Guards and Civil Defence Khalil Ur Rehman said on Sunday. He was speaking at the valedictory of a basic training programme for newly-recruited Home Guards at the Anatha Pindaka Buddha Vihara in Rekulagi in Humnabad taluk. He said the police and allied forces were facing new challenges in today's world. Now, the services of such forces were needed not only to face natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes, but also man-made disasters such as nuclear material leakage and misuse of chemical weapons. He called upon young Home Guards to work in co-ordination with the police. Superintendent of Police Ravi S. asked the Home Guards to treat disaster victims with compassion. "You should realise that this is a noble way to serve the society," he said. District Commandant M. Naimuddin spoke . Deputy Commandant Dilip Kulkarni and officers A. Venkatesh and D.M. Chavan were present.
