Awareness programme

CHENNAI : About 200 members of the Vagirivel community, a Narikurava group, benefited from an awareness programme conducted by Foundation for Rights of Young Child (FORYOUCHILD) here on Saturday.

The community is classified as s Schedule Tribe by the Union Government but as Most Backward Community by the Tamil Nadu Government. FORYOUCHILD and students of Mar Gregorious College conducted an awareness programme for some 60 families of the Vagirivel community at Periyar Nagar, Narikuravar Colony, Thiruvanmiyur. A team of medical personnel headed by Ragunathan, Kilpauk Medical College, conducted s medical camp. M. Shankarrepresenting the `Nadodigal Sangam' spoke.

Gomathi Kannappan and K. Shanmugavelayutham of FORYOUCHILD spoke. Mar Gregorious College students performed street-plays .
