CHENNAI: The Gujarat Handloom and Handicraft exhibition on at Sankara Hall, Alwarpet, has much to offer for the discerning looking to replenish their wardrobe and home décor items.

The Gujarat State Handloom, Handicrafts and Industrial Cooperatives Federation, that has 12 emporiums all over the country, has displayed gold and silver jewellery, beadwork, puppets and leather and embroidery.

A combination of printing with mordant dying is typical of the technique in many parts of Gujarat. Similarly, Bandhini, or tie and dye, is a fabric reminiscent of youth, romance and true love. The most intricate and refined Bandhini is made in Saurashtra and Kachichii. The exhibition is on till February 22.
