NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government has initiated action for resettlement of slum dwellers in multi-storey flats for which time-bound implementation has been started. To begin with around 3,000 families would be resettled in such flats on 47 acres that has been earmarked for the purpose. Announcing this after a visit to the resettlement site over the weekend, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said 3,000 families residing in five jhuggi-jhopri clusters would be given quake-resistant flats in the first phase of the project. For the first phase, 47 acres has been earmarked in Nizampur, Tatesar, Dariyapur Kalan, Bajitpur Thakran and Bawana -- all close to inhabited localities . Ms. Dikhit said these flats would be constructed with pre-fabricated material and with new simplex technique.
