Book on Sikhism released

NEW DELHI: A book, "Sikhism a Path to Dialogue" written by Dr. Hormise N. Raj, was released at a function organised by Punjabi Manch here over the weekend.

Published by Media House, the book elaborates on the theme that Guru Granth Sahib focuses on dialogue in relation to self, society, its values and ultimately God. The function was attended by several writers and theologians of Sikhism and Christianity.

Auto-lifters arrested

NEW DELHI: Three persons allegedly involved in more than 40 cases of auto-lifting have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police. Four stolen vehicles have so far been recovered at their instance, the police said. Inspector Rajkumar of the Crime Branch received a tip-off that one of the suspects, Subhash, would on February 12 come near a cinema hall at Rohini along with his accomplice in a stolen Maruti Alto car. Accordingly, the Crime Branch sleuths laid a trap. As soon as the Alto stopped near the cinema hall and two persons alighted from it, the policemen overpowered them. During interrogation, they identified themselves as Subhash and Fahmid Ahmed. The vehicle was found stolen from Prashant Vihar a couple of days ago.

Held with drugs

NEW DELHI: Three persons, including a woman, have been arrested by the Narcotics Branch of the Delhi police near Akshardham temple in East Delhi for alleged drug peddling. The police claim to have recovered 4 kg of heroin from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off that some people would hand over a heroin consignment to their client near the temple on Saturday, the Narcotics Branch laid a trap and arrested three of them with the stuff. They have been identified as Rajender Singh, Shamim Ahmad and Anjali Gehlot.

`Robbers' nabbed

NEW DELHI: Four young men allegedly involved in over 30 cases of robberies and thefts were arrested by the Special Staff of the Delhi police in the Okhla Industrial Area on Saturday. A large number of stolen articles have been recovered from them.

The accused, Ghulam Jilani, Khokan, Pradeep and Sandeep, are residents of Shahbad Dairy in North-West Delhi.

Dental camp organised

NEW DELHI: A free dental check-up camp was organised at Hauz Khas here over the weekend to mark Delhi Police Week-2007. The camp, organised by Dr. Jatinder Arora, was inaugurated by DCP South Anil Shukla. Over 300 people attended the camp.
