Aruna Roy's lecture at Nalsar varsity

HYDERABAD: Access law activist and member of the Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sanghatan Aruna Roy has cautioned about tendencies of people in power to defeat the right to information and called for tenacity on the part of citizens not to succumb to them.

Delivering the Gutta Ramarao memorial lecture at Nalsar University of Law on Saturday, she advised citizens to file at least one request for public information to check corruption and ensure enforcement of rule of law.

She asked common public and bureaucrats to ponder about the future of the country without Right to Information Act as a tool to enforce rule of law.

In a piece of advice to NALSAR students who showed inclination to become corporate lawyers, she asked them to reason out disagreement over issues.

Ghanshyam Singh, Registrar of the varsity, and G.K.B. Choudary, son of late Ramarao, spoke.
