KOCHI: Seventy-seven-year-old P. K. Isaac, a retired engineer from the Public Works Department and four-year-old Albi D. Saji, a kindergarten student from Kristu Jayanti School, Kakkanad, were among those who completed a 7.5-km walkathon, organised jointly by the Kerala Management Association and MetLife India Insurance in the city on Sunday. More than 2,000 people participated in the walkathon, which saw enthusiastic response from people from different walks of life. Vinu Varghese, Assistant Coach at Mar Basel School, Kothamangalam, walked home with the first prize of Rs. 50,000. K. V. Thomas, MLA, K. P. V. Krishna Kumar, Corporation Councillor and M. Jitendran, Chairman and Managing Director of Cochin Shipyard, were among those who completed the Walkathon, which was inaugurated by DIG Ravada Chandrashekhar at the Durbar Hall Grounds. Rajam Gopi, Shobhana Kumari and A. N. Shanthakumari bagged the first three prizes in the women's category while Rajpal Yadav of INS Garuda and Akash Vimal, a student of Anglo Indian School, came second and third respectively in the general category.
