KOCHI: Paulose Mar Milithios, Catholicos-designate of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, was accorded a reception in the city on Sunday. Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi inaugurated the reception meeting. Zachariah Mar Anthonios, Metropolitan of the Kochi Diocese presided. Head of the Chaldean Syrian Church Mar Aprem Metropolitan delivered the benedictory address. Sebastian Paul, MP, and K. V. Thomas and K. Babu, MLAs, were among those who offered felicitations. The Catholicos-designate also laid the foundation for Karunyanilayam, a home for the sick, poor and the weak, at the meeting. The facility is being built to commemorate the 60th birthday of the Kochi Metropolitan.
