Two killed as lorry hits motorcycle

BANGALORE: Two persons were killed when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a lorry on Mahadevapura Ring Road on Saturday.

According to the police, the victims, Manujanth (28) and Anand (26), workers of a fabrication company, were returning to their house in T. Narayanapura when the accident occurred.

The two, who suffered severe head and shoulder injuries, were taken to a private hospital where they were declared dead.

A case has been registered with the K.R. Puram traffic police.

Suicide

Uma, a 29-year-old nurse from Hassan, was found hanging from the ceiling of her room in the quarters attached to the Bangalore Kidney Foundation where she was working, on Saturday.

The body was found by her colleagues, the Banashankari police said.

The police said they had found a suicide note which said that she was taking the extreme step to repent a wrong she had committed.

The police are waiting to gather details from Uma's relatives.

Eight held

Eight persons have been arrested in connection with a clash at Basappa Lane, off Tannery Road, on Saturday.

According to the police, the clash erupted with a person spitting on his neighbour's vehicle. This led to an altercation and a clash between two groups who threw stones at each other. Two persons were injured and a few vehicles and houses were damaged.

The police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The situation in the area was peaceful on Sunday, they said.

Four arrested

The Central Crime Branch police have arrested four persons on the charge of selling shoes with fake tags of renowned brands. Shoes valued at Rs. 4.44 lakh that were being sold with Nike and Adidas tags have been recovered. The shoes were found in stalls in Sukh Sagar Complex and Mahavir Plaza, both in Gandhinagar.
