Two held on charge of pickpocketing

Thiruvananthapuram: The city police on Sunday arrested two persons who were wanted in several cases of pickpocketing. A police team led by Thampanoor Circle Inspector S.M. Zaheer and Sub-Inspector Sheen Tharayil arrested the duo red-handed on Saturday night while they were attempting to pick the pocket of a commuter at the Thampanoor bus station.

Police said Hari alias Harilal, 36, and James, 45, were experts in using razor blades to tear the pocket of their victims and steal their purses. They used to frequent crowded places in the city to carry out their crime. Harilal was also wanted in connection with several cases in Tamil Nadu. The Sessions Court had declared Harilal as a wanted criminal.

Found hanging

A 29-year-old youth who was found hanging in his house near Muttada on Sunday morning died at the hospital. The police said Sajan's family had found him hanging from the ceiling on their return from church. He was immediately rushed to hospital where he breathed his last. The police said Sajan was suffering from mental trauma.
