10-month-old baby boy abducted from church
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
A 10-month-old boy was allegedly abducted from a church at Madhapur by a woman even as his mother was offering prayers on Sunday afternoon.
At the local Jerusalem church, an unidentified woman in her early 20s befriended a housewife from Sainagar, Mary, offering to feed biscuits to her boy Yesu Babu while she was offering the prayers.
Initially, Mary refused to hand over the boy but relented when the latter convinced her, saying that she could send her relative's daughter Geetha (6) along.
Believing her, Mary gave her son to the woman. The woman walked out of the church with the boy and made away in an autorickshaw pushing Geetha aside. The shocked girl rushed to inform the matter to Mary who alerted the police.
Mary told the police that the abductor clad in blue salwar kameez was of dark complexion, 5 feet in height and carried a handbag and mobile phone. The abduction came close on the heels of the kidnapping of 15-month-old boy Chandu from Gayatri Hills in Jubilee Hills on February 6. The boy is yet to be traced.
Madhapur Inspector S. Jayaram said same woman might be involved in both cases.
